Four-day long Chhath puja celebrations concludes

The 4-day long Chhath puja celebrations concluded this morning following oblations to the rising sun in different parts of the country including Bihar, UP and Delhi. After paying oblations to the Sun, devotees broke their 36-hour fast and Prasad was shared with all the people around. This is called Paran. People of Bihar from all parts of the country and abroad have come to their native place to perform Chhath Puja.

Amid religious fervour and gaitey devotees paid oblation to the rising sun. They have started gathering at ghats of various rivers including Ganga, Kosi , Gandak and Sone rivers in wee hours.Lakhs of devotees paid offering to  the Sun God on the banks of ponds and water



reservoirs in mithlanchal areas which includes Darbhanga, Madhubani and Sitamarhi districts of the state. 

A large number of devotees made special offerings to the Sun God at various sun temples including the Deo in Aurangabad, Bargao in Nalanda and Ular Sun temple in Patna district.Devotees from bordering areas of Nepal have  performed Chhath puja alongwith devotees from Bihar on several river banks. People across all sections of society participate in the puja celebrations. This festival connected with purity, devotion to the Sun God, who is considered as the source of life on this earth and is regarded as the deity who fulfills all wishes.
