In West Bengal, fresh violence erupted in the Sukna area of Darjeeling hills yesterday. The women wing of Gorkha Janamukti Morcha took out a procession in protest against the alleged police atrocities.
The activists turned violent when police stopped their procession. They resorted to stone pelting and
blocked the National Highway. Some police personnel sustained injuries. Another protest rally was also held at Chowkbazar against the state government. The protesters sought Central Government’s intervention and demanded that it should take a serious look into their demand of a separate state of Gorkhaland.
