BENGALURU: KT Naveen Kumar, the first accused to be arrested in journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh murder case, was rejected bail by the 70th City Civil and Sessions Court here on Monday.
Dismissing the bail petition filed by Naveen Kumar, the magistrate observed that there were all chances of the petitioner destructing the evidence if granted the bail. “The investigation in the case is not yet completed and arrests are being made. Granting the petitioner bail would
affect the probe. He would not cooperate with the investigation and try to influence witnesses in the case. His move to agree to undergo narco analysis test initially and the subsequent refusal is also suspicious,” Magistrate Ramalinge Gowda observed before rejecting the bail.
A Vedamurthy, the counsel representing Naveen Kumar, told reporters that he would move the Karnataka High Court, questioning the order of the lower court, as there was no evidence against his client.
