Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered a high-level probe into the capsize of a private tourist launch in Katchuluru village of Devipatnam Mandal in East Godavari District on Sunday.
Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy announced this after conducting an aerial survey of the site of capsize and reviewed the situation with the officials at Rajamahendravaram on Monday.
The Chief Minister said that the high-level probe on the tragedy will be conducted by a four-member committee headed by a Chairman.
While asserting the launch tragedy as a serious in nature and blaming the officials for the gross negligence, he asked the committee to submit its report within three weeks and initiate stringent action against the erring within 45 days.
The committee will be headed by the Irrigation Special Chief Secretary as the Chairman and Collector East Godavari district, Revenue Chief Secretary, Tourism Principal Secretary and Additional DG Law and Order as the
members.
It will fix the responsibility for the launch tragedy and suggest suitable measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
The CM later visited the Government Hospital at Rajamahendravaram where the rescued passengers were receiving treatment.

The situation in Godavari near Devipatnam in East Godavari District in AP is still tense, as searching operation for the drowned tourists by NDRF, SDRF, NAVAL helicopters, Fire and Revenue Staff is still on.
As the boat was traced at a depth of 300 feet in the river, officials are now trying to move heavy cranes to the accident spot.
