Sat 02 Mar 2019, 10:49:36
The government has extended ban on the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), which was involved in a series of terror acts in the country, for five years.

The decision has been taken as the organization continues to indulge in subversive activities. In its notification, the Home Ministry termed the SIMI as an unlawful association.

It said,  if

the unlawful activities of  SIMI  are not curbed and controlled immediately, it will continue its subversive activities, re-organize its activists and disrupt the secular fabric of the country by propagating anti-national sentiments and escalating secessionism by supporting militancy. The ministry listed 58 cases where members belonging to the SIMI were allegedly involved.
