New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed on the need to adopt innovative ways to increase vaccination in districts with low Covid vaccination coverage. The Prime Minister said this during a review meeting yesterday with districts having low vaccination coverage through video conferencing.

Mr Modi said, the better performing districts also had similar challenges but they dealt with them with determination and innovation. He asked officials to develop micro strategies, keeping in mind the previous experiences to deal with the saturation of vaccination and address the gaps at local level.

The Prime Minister asked officials to change gears from making arrangements to take people to the vaccination centres and door to door vaccination. He said, the Government is focusing on door to door vaccination 'Har Ghar Dastak' to achieve 100 per cent

vaccination.

The Prime Minister said, districts having less than 50 per cent of coverage and low coverage of second dose should give special focus on awareness. He also stressed on connecting religious leaders in the awareness drive.

Mr Modi said, the States can also take the help of NCC and NSS cadets during vaccination drive.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister discussed the issue of vaccine hesitancy and the local factors behind it.

The meeting included districts with less than 50 per cent coverage of the first dose and low coverage of the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Mr Modi interacted with District Magistrates of over 40 districts from Jharkhand, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya and other States. Chief Ministers of the states also attended the review meeting.
