The Government yesterday said over 17 thousand Police Stations across the country are connected so far and using Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems, CCTNS. In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, the Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar said CCTNS facilitates the collection, updation and analysis of data related to crime and criminals. He said it facilitates various benefits to the State Police, Central Police Organizations and citizens of the country.

Mr Kumar said the CCTNS provides computerization of police processes like complaints, FIRs, Investigation



details, Charge sheets, and Search on National and State databases of crime and criminals and enables sharing of data amongst Police, Central Investigative Agencies, Courts, Prison, Forensic and Prosecution for effective justice delivery. 

He said services like searching for missing persons, generating Vehicle NOC, proclaimed offenders information and the location of the nearest Police Station have also been provided to citizens at the National level through a digital police portal and central citizen services portal.
