The Government has said that one hundred cities have completed 90 per cent of its total development projects amounting to over one lakh 44 thousand crore rupees under Smart City Mission. The mission was launched in 2015 to promote cities that provide core infrastructure and decent quality of life to their citizens, clean and sustainable environment through application of smart solutions.
The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said, the Mission has been getting
multiple requests from some States and City government representatives, to grant some more time to complete the balance ten per cent projects.
Taking cognizance of these requests, the Ministry has extended the Mission period upto 31 March 2025 to complete these balance projects. It said, the balance 830 projects amounting to 19 thousand 926 crore rupees are also in advanced stages of completion.
