Government will
deploy 600 young professionals or Zila Swachh Bharat Preraks (ZSBPs) across the
country, one in each district, to boost Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. These
professionals will be geared to strengthen capacities at the district level,
and provide them technical and management support, as they continue to make
strides towards becoming Open Defecation Free.
Union Minister for
Drinking Water and Sanitation Narendra Singh Tomar said, the role of the ZSBPs
will be to support the
Collector/DDO/CEO to implement Swachh Bharat Mission by
coordinating the various sanitation-related activities in the district.
During his Mann Ki Baat address on 25th September, the Prime Minister had made an appeal to sponsor young professionals who would support district administrations across the country in the implementation of Swachh Bharat Mission.The cadre will be funded and recruited by the Tata Trusts, at no extra cost to the State government or the Ministry.
