Government has taken several steps to restore peace and bring normalcy in Manipur in the last one hundred days. Sources in the Home Ministry said, two battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and 200 companies of central police forces have been deployed in Manipur. It said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has been regularly reviewing the security situation in Manipur, and necessary actions are being ensured.
The Government has also ended the free movement regime along the India-Myanmar border. It said, the Cabinet Committee on Security has approved the construction of border fencing and roads along the
1,610-kilometre-long international border between India and Myanmar.
The Ministry said, about ten kilometres of fencing have been completed over Moreh, and work is underway to fence another 21 kilometres of the border in other areas of Manipur. It said, continuous dialogues are being held with both the Meitei and Kuki communities to restore peace in the region.
The Ministry said, as a new initiative, Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar has been opened to provide essential commodities to the people of Manipur at fair prices. In addition to the 21 existing Police Kalyan Bhandar, 16 new Kalyan Bhandar are being opened.
