Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi has said that a record allocation of more than 4 lakh crore has been designated for women’s welfare in the Union Budget 2025-26, marking an increase of more than 37 percent from the previous year.
Briefing the media in New Delhi yesterday, the minister stated that women entrepreneurs are the driving force behind the country’s economic progress. She underscored that the gender budget now constitutes 8.86 percent
of the total budget, marking an increase from 6.8 percent in the financial year 2024-25.
The Union Minister also announced the 7th Poshan Pakhwada, which will be held from 18th March to 2nd April this year. The event will focus on key themes such as the first thousand days of an infant’s life, popularising the beneficiary module, and promoting a healthy lifestyle to address obesity in children, among others.
