The Government approved two corridors of Delhi Metro Phase IV. Briefing media in New Delhi after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said, the total project cost of the two corridors will be 8,400 crore rupees which will be sourced from the Government of India, Government National Capital Territory of Delhi and international funding agencies. He said, the Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block metro line will be 8.3 kilometres, will have eight Stations and will connect Silver, Magenta, Pink and Violet Lines. 

Mr Thakur said, the 12 kilometres long Inderlok to Indraprastha Metro line of the Delhi Metro will be an extension of the Green line. He said, it will have ten stations and will provide interchange with Red, Yellow, Magenta Violet, Blue and  Airport Express lines.  

The Delhi Metro is already constructing a network of 65 kilometres as part of its fourth phase of expansion. These new corridors are expected to be completed by March 2026 in stages. Presently, the DMRC operates a network of 391 kilometres consisting of 286 stations. The Delhi Metro is now one of the fastest-growing Metro networks in the world.

The Cabinet also gave its approval to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding  (MoU) between the Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan on the General Supply of Petroleum, Oil, Lubricants and related products from India to Bhutan. It aims to benefit India and its citizens with improved economic and commercial linkages with Bhutan irrespective of any gender, class or income bias, particularly in the area of the hydrocarbon sector.

The Cabinet also approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Bhutan on extending cooperation in the field of Energy Efficiency and Energy Conservation Measures.

The MoU was signed between the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India and the



Department of Energy, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Royal Government of Bhutan. As part of this MoU, India aims to assist Bhutan in enhancing energy efficiency in the household sector by promoting a star labelling programme developed by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. The formulation of building codes, to suit the climate condition of Bhutan, will be facilitated based on India’s experience.

The Cabinet also approved the signing of an Agreement between the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority BFDA, the Ministry of Health, the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India FSSAI regarding cooperation in the areas of food safety. The signing of this Agreement between BFDA and FSSAI will facilitate the trade between two neighbouring countries. BFDA will issue a Health Certificate as proof of compliance with the requirements prescribed by FSSAI while exporting the products to India. This will promote Ease of Doing Business and will reduce compliance costs on both sides.

The Union Cabinet gave its Ex-post facto approval today to the Inter-Governmental Framework Agreement IGFA that was signed on the 13th of last month between the India and United Arab Emirates on Cooperation for the empowerment and operation of the India-Middle East Europe Economic Corridor IMEC. The IGFA aims to enhance the bilateral relations and to further strengthen the relations between the two countries in the Ports, Maritime and Logistics sectors. The IGFA includes areas of cooperation between the two countries to explore further potential of future joint investment and collaboration in respect of the development of the IMEC. 

The Agreement contains a detailed framework for cooperation between the two countries. The cooperation will be based on a set of mutually agreed upon principles, guidelines and agreements consistent with the relevant rules and regulations of the countries’ jurisdiction.
