The Centre has appealed to the Central Trade Unions not to go ahead with their proposed strike in protest of their demands.The trade unions have decided to go on strike on 9th, 10th and 17th of this month to press for their 12 point demand including minimum wages, price rise, unemployment and universal social security. 

Labour and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar yesterday met the representatives of the various trade unions and discussed the issues raised by



them. 

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Mr Gangwar said, the government has taken various decisions and initiatives in the last three years for the welfare of the workers. 

Mr Gangwar talked about initiatives like simultaneous increase in minimum wages and enhancing minimum pension to one thousand rupees. He said, the government has taken note of their demands and it has completed works on some of the issues raised by the trade unions.
