Govt Examining Issue of Simultaneous Elections of Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies

The government is examining the issue of simultaneous elections of Lok Sabha and State legislative assemblies. A matter has been referred to the Law Commission for further examination to work out a practicable road map and framework.

Lok Sabha today, Minister of Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad said, Department Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice had examined the issue of simultaneous elections with various stakeholders including the Election Commission of India.
