New Delhi: The government has introduced Face recognition and Aadhaar identification based eKYC of farmers to ensure transparency in the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme (PM-Kisan). Replying to supplementaries in question hour in Lok Sabha yesterday, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje said many fake entries have been submitted to receive the amount under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
She said that to ensure good governance and transparency in direct benefit transfer to farmers, a new eKYC has been initiated after the release of the 13th PM-Kisan fund. She said the process of eKYC
is very easy and can be completed even through a mobile app.
The Government of India has disbursed over 2.60 Lakhs Crore rupees to more than 11 Crore farmers under the PM-KISAN scheme. In the scheme, an amount of six thousand rupees is transferred annually in three equal instalments of two thousand rupees directly into the bank accounts of the farmers.
The PM-KISAN Scheme was launched in February 2019 to provide financial assistance to all cultivable landholding farmer families across the country.
