Govt is committed to empower farmers and double their income by 2022: Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government is committed to empower farmers and double their income by 2022. 

Interacting with workers of the Karnataka BJP farmers cell through the Narendra Modi App today, Mr Modi said, the NDA Government is making efforts to uplift the farmers and come up with solutions for the problems that are being faced by them. 

Speaking about various scheme of the Centre, the Prime Minister said, special schemes has been launched for the farmers so that they face no problems during the entire crop cycle. 

He said, the Centre has allocated 11



lakh crore rupees for agriculture loan which has never happened before. He said, around 3.5 crore farmers have been covered under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, out of which 14 lakh farmers belong to Karnataka. 

He said, Government has increased Minimum Support Price for notified crops to at least 1.5 times that of the production cost. Slamming the Congress, he said, a sensitive govt, which works for the development of farmers is needed in Karnataka. He said, due to the apathy of Karnataka govt, farmers in the state have not got the benefit of Fasal Bima Yojna.
