New Delhi: Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Narendra Tomar has stressed upon the need for amalgamation of innovation with the latest technology and conventional ways of agriculture to make this sector self-reliant. He said, through the joint efforts of centre and states, the government has exported agriproduce of worth three lakh 75 thousand crore rupees even during the testing time of pandemic.
He was virtually addressing the National Conference on ''Enhancing Agricultural Productivity: Integration of Improved Seeds and Agri Inputs'' in New Delhi on Wednesday.
Mr. Tomar highlighted the role of agri-infrastructure and said the government is
setting up ten thousand Farmer Productivity Organisations with the cost of over six thousand eight hundred crore rupees for the development of agri-infrastructure across the country. He said, government is relentlessly working on several measures to enhance productivity of the farmers of the country.
The Minister informed that the government, under the Digital Agriculture Mission, is also working on crop mapping through the satellite assessment to eliminate the uncertainties in crop productivity. This National Conference was organised by ASSOCHAM in which eminent agriculture experts, professionals and academia participated.
