Ministry of Civil Aviation on Friday proposed 'no fly list' to deal with the unruly flyers. This came after the incident where Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad physically assulted an Air India staff. Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, MoS Jayant Sinha and Civil Aviation Secretary R N Choubey released the rules. The 'no fly list' includes three levels to identify unruly fliers.
Level 1 is disruptive behaviour like physical gestures, abusive language which can lead to suspension for 3 months. Level 2 is physically
abusive behaviour like pushing, kicking, sexual harassment etc, which can lead to suspension for 6 months. Level 3 is life-threatening behaviour and the suspension is 2 yrs or more.
The new rules will be open for a month for public comments. Following which the ministry will study the inputs before finalising the law. Civil Aviation Secretary R N Choubey also added that, "airlines can ban a passenger from flying immediately, but that passenger won’t come on national no-fly list immediately."
