Govt issues statement quashing rumours of closing of hotels till October 15

A rumour has been circulating on WhatsApp, saying that the government has ordered closing of all hotels and restaurants till 15th October, 2020.

The Ministry of Tourism has denied any such order and has asked people to disregard this message. The Ministry said that the matter is now under investigation by the



Cyber Crime Unit of the Mumbai police.

A tweet has been circulating on social media saying that Indian Council of Medical Research may do a study on the immunity of indigenous Assamese persons to COVID-19. The tweet says that no person of such descent has been found corona positive. PIB Fact check has debunked the rumour in a tweet quoting Dr. Balram Bhargava, DG, ICMR saying that there are no such studies at the moment.
