Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government wants to set up a medical college and hospital in every district of the country. 

Mr Modi said, his government also plans to set up 1.5 lakh wellness centres under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. 

Prime Minister said, these wellness centres will cater to six lakh villages. He said, one centre will be built every 10 to 12 km to offer the best health care services to the rural population. 

Mr Modi was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating a 300-bed Gujarat Medical and Education Research Society Hospital at Junagadh in Gujarat on Thursday. 

Prime Minister said the country's health sector has undergone a major overhaul in the last few years with various schemes introduced by the Central government. 

Speaking about Ayushman Bharat scheme which envisages medical insurance of Rs. five lakh to 10 crore families, Mr Modi said it will give a boost to private sector investment in health care sector in rural areas. 

Prime Minister said, central government has also started Jan Aushadhi stores, an initiative which is reducing prices of medicines.

lakh 15 thousand houses built under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana to beneficiaries through video conferencing from Jujwa village of Valsad district in Gujarat. 

Beneficiaries from 26 districts of Gujarat got their homes through collective e-Grihpravesh. 

Prime Minister also attended a meeting of Shree Somnath Trust at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar along with BJP President Amit Shah and party veteran LK Advani. 

Addressing the convocation of Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Mr Modi asked experts to adopt modern techniques like DNA profiling in rape cases to ensure speedy justice. 

Prime Minister said the central government had approved the DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, 2018 in view of the importance of DNA technology in forensic investigation. 

Mr Modi called upon forensic experts to help the judiciary by using DNA profiling as much as possible so that culprits of brutal rape cases are punished immediately and the victims get justice. 

Mr Modi said,  forensic science, police and judiciary are three important pillars to ensure criminal justice delivery system, so that citizens feel safe.
