Govt says that India has not accepted illegal Chinese occupation of its territory

New Delhi: The Union Government is committed to the objective of creating infrastructure along border areas for improvement of livelihood in Arunachal Pradesh. Asserting this at a media briefing in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry Spokesman Arindam Bagchi yesterday said, government keeps constant watch on developments having bearing on nation's security and takes all measures to safeguard sovereignty and territorial integrity. 

He said, the government has stepped up border infrastructure, which has provided the much needed connectivity for local population.

Mr Bagchi said that China has undertaken construction activities along the border areas over several years, including areas which it has illegally occupied. He, however, said India has neither accepted such illegal



occupation nor has it accepted unjustified Chinese claims. Mr. Bagchi said, government has always conveyed strong protest to such activities via diplomatic means and will continue to do so in future.

On the Delhi Regional Security Dialogue on Afghanistan meet which was held yesterday, Mr Bagchi said, Pakistan was invited, but they did not come and it shows their attitude over Afghanistan issue.

The External Affairs Ministry Spokesman said, India's support to the people of Afghanistan is very clear and it has been extending support over many years to all the people of Afghanistan. Mr Bagchi said, at the Delhi Regional Security Dialogue, the very serious humanitarian situation in Afghanistan was discussed at length.
