Government will today
launch a nationwide campaign to open bank accounts for workers - both in
organised and unorganised sectors - who do not have one even today.
Special camps will be
organised in every district at specific locations from today to facilitate
people to open their bank accounts.Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatraya said, it
has been decided to pursue this path of digital transactions more vigorously
than ever before.
He said, communication has already been sent to all the
states in this respect requesting their active co-operation.
Mr Dattatraya sought the co-operation of all establishments, employers, employees associations and others to ensure that the needy workers access these camps and avail the services. The campaign will continue for a few days through the concerned banks, their business correspondents and camps as required.
