The Government has re-invoked the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) stage-3 in Delhi and NCR with immediate effect to prevent further deterioration of air quality. Under Stage -3, the Construction and Demolition activities have been banned in Delhi and NCR. The decision was taken in view of a sudden deterioration of the air quality of Delhi touching the average Air Quality Index of 458.
 
Union Environment Ministry said, in view of the air quality scenario, the Sub-Committee for operationalization of the Graded Response Action Plan today



called on an emergency meeting. The Committee has decided to re-invoke eight point action plan as per Stage-3 of GRAP in the entire NCR. 

As per the action plan, agencies need to intensify the frequency of mechanized and vacuum-based sweeping of roads. The Committee also directed agencies to ensure daily water sprinkling along with dust suppressants, before peak traffic hours, on roads and ensure proper disposal of the collected dust in designated sites and landfills.
