Gujarat ATS, in a late night operation on Friday, arrested an Afghan national from Vasant Kunj area Delhi NCR with 4 kg of heroin worth Rs 20 crore. ATS sources said accused Wahidullah Rahimullah had come to India on a medical visa in 2016 and then got it extended.
The arrest was made as DSP ATS B H Chavda and his team rushed to Delhi after a tip off from Surat crime branch. “We got in touch with Delhi crime branch and conducted an operation in Vasant Kunj area of Delhi NCR and found Wahidullah with the heroin. An FIR has been registered with Delhi crime branch under sections of NDPS.
Interrogation revealed that a man named Mustaq from Lucknow used to provide heroin to Wahidullah. A joint
team of Delhi Police and Gujarat ATS is looking for Mustaq, and he Mustaq got the drugs,” said a senior ATS official. SP ATS Sunil Joshi said that Wahidullah had also applied for refugee status with the Government of India.
A week ago, Punjab police had come down to a village in Kutch and picked up two persons with the help of Gujarat ATS on Friday night. The operation was conducted after Ludhiana police recovered 38 kg of heroin from the toolbox of a truck. The driver of the truck told police that the heroin was supplied by three persons in Lakkhi village in Kutch. “‘The heroin was smuggled from Pakistan and three hid it in a ditch in Lakkhi village before transporting it to Punjab,” the official said.
