Gujarat government has announced 4 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) to the state employees. This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, who also hold Finance portfolio. Two percent Dearness allowance was due from 1st July 2016, while 2 percent was due from 1st January 2017. 

Mr. Patel said this will benefit to more than 8 lakh employees and pensioners of the state government.He



said in the first phase it will put a burden of 465 crore and in all 930 crore rupees over the state exchequer. 
Gujarat Government has implemented the recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission in the state with the retrospective effect of January 1, 2016 in August last year, which had already put an additional annual burden of 8500 crore rupees on the state exchequer.
