The Gujarat government has declared Mucormycosis disease as epidemic.
This decision was taken in a core group meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani last evening.
The Mucormycosis disease also known as Black Fungus has been declared an epidemic under the Epidemic Disease Act 1857.
Now government, private hospitals and Medical colleges will have to follow the ICMR and Union Health Ministry’s guidelines for screening, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
The details of suspected and confirmed
cases of this disease will need to be sent to the center government.
Gujarat has more than one thousand confirmed cases of Mucormycosis at present.
Meanwhile, the day time restrictions and night curfew in 36 cities of Gujarat have been extended till 27th May.
However, commercial establishments including shops and street vendors are allowed to reopen from 9 am to 3 pm.
All essential services in the state will continue as earlier without any restrictions.
