Gujarat government has issued a notification to restrict people from flying kites at public places during Makarsankranti festival due to COVID-19 pandemic. As per the notification issued by the state home department yesterday, any act of flying kites or assembling of persons at public places, open grounds or roads, streets will be prohibited.
It advised that people should celebrate the festival with their close family members only. The notification also advised the people above the age of 65, pregnant women and kids below 10 years to stay at home. The Advocate General of the state government also informed the Gujarat High Court, which is hearing a Public Interest Litigation on this
issue.
Meanwhile, Gujarat has reported 685 new cases of Covid19 during the last 24 hours. The total number of Covid19 cases detected so far in Gujarat has reached up to 2 lakh 50 thousand 598. Out of these, 2 lakh 38 thousand 114 patients have recovered.
892 patients recovered during the last 24 hours. According to the state health department, the recovery rate has further improved to 95.02 percent. Maximum 134 new cases were reported from Ahmedabad, while Surat recorded 126 new cases. At present total active cases in the state are 8149, out of which 61 patients are on ventilator. 3 patients died yesterday due to COVID-19.
