The Gujarat government has decided to permit the famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Ahmedabad on Monday with a provision of curfew on the route and a ban on Prasad distribution.

This was announced by the State Home Minister Pradip Sinh Jadeja last evening. Speaking to the media persons at Gandhinagar, the Minister said that the decision was taken keeping in view public sentiments and after improvement in the Covid19 situation in the state.

government has decided to permit the Rath yatra with certain restrictions. He said that only three Raths and a vehicle of Mahant and Trustee will be allowed to participate in this traditional Rath Yatra.

The people have been asked to remain at home and watch the Rath Yatra live on television. He said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend Mangala Aarti at the lord Jagannath temple in the morning, while Chief Minister Vijay Rupani will perform the Pahind ceremony in the presence of limited devotees.  He said that the authorities will ensure a strict curfew along the 19 kilometer route of the Rath Yatra which will have to be finished in five hours.
