The Gujarat high court yesterday upheld the civic polls schedule and rejected the plea filed by Congress leaders regarding separate dates of counting of votes for both the phases of civic polls.
The bench of Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice I J Vora said the high court did not find any malafide in the schedule where counting of votes for corporation elections has been kept ahead of civic
polls. The bench also rejected the argument that the results of phase one are likely to influence voters in phase 2.
The election for six municipal corporations in the State will be held tomorrow and the counting of votes will take place on 23rd February. The election for districts, taluka and municipalities will take place on the 28th of this month.
