One person died and six others were injured in a communal clash at Vadavali village in Patan district of Gujarat today. Police fired seven rounds in air to disperse the mob which set fire to houses and vehicles.

Top police officials rushed to the spot and the State Reserve Police (SRP) teams were deployed. The situation was now under control, police said. The violence started following a minor fight between students of two communities, an official of Chanasana police station



said.

Soon the dispute escalated and members of the two communities clashed. Patan Superintendent of Police A G Chauhan said a 50-year-old man died, while six others were injured.


Inspector C P Sadiya of Chanasana police station said the police fired seven rounds in air and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the mob which torched vehicles and some houses. Top police officials were camping in the village.
