Gujarat will become the second state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) after Uttarakhand. The State Law Minister Rushikesh Patel said this in the state assembly yesterday.

The state law minister Rushikesh Patel said the decision to implement UCC is a step towards ensuring equal justice for all the people of the state and realizing the concept of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.

In



this direction, the state government has formed a high-level committee under the chairmanship of Justice Ranjana Desai to evaluate and draft a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state. The committee invited suggestions from residents, socio political organizations , the deadline of submitting the suggestions has been extended till April 15, 2025 to ensure more people’s participation in law making.
