In Rajasthan, agtitating members of Gujjar Aarakashn Sangharsh Samiti are sitting on the Mumbai-Delhi Railway track at Malarna Dungar in Sawai Madhopur District from yesterday evening.
Several trains have been affected due to the blockage of railway track . Several trains have been diverted due to the agitation. The security has been tightened across several districts of the state including Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, Kaurali, Bharatpur, Dholpur and Jaipur due to Gurjar agitation.
Gujjar community is demanding separate 5 per cent reservation in jobs and admissions to educational institutions. State government constituted a three-member cabinet committee to initiate a dialogue with the agitators.
Meanwhile, taking cognizance of the gujjar agitation,
the State Human Rights Commission directed government to apprise it of steps taken to protest those affected by the stir by Monday.
The Gujjars along with four other communities are eligible for a one per cent dedicated quota under the Special Backword Classes-(SBC) along with the benefits of OBC quota.
They have been demanding a separate five per cent quota for SBC for years. Gujjars did agitation and blocked railway tracks and Highways many times. Many of them have lost their lives during such agitations.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that state government has taken all possible steps in this direction, and now central government is to decide about the matter.
