Gyanesh Kumar takes charge as Chief Election Commissioner

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar is set to assume his charge at the Election Commission office in New Delhi today. His appointment follows the conclusion of Rajiv Kumar’s tenure as the head of the election body yesterday. Gyanesh Kumar, a former IAS officer from the 1988 batch of the Kerala



cadre, previously held the position of secretary in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Additionally, Vivek Joshi, an IAS officer from the 1989 batch of the Haryana cadre, was also designated as the new Election Commissioner on 17th February.
