Surat: Patel quota agitation leader Hardik Patel was today booked under charges of sedition over 'kill cops' remarks in Surat.
"If you have so much courage...then go and kill a couple of policemen. Patels never commit suicide," Hardik had said in Surat on October 3, while speaking to a local youth, Vipul Desai, who had announced that he would commit suicide in support of the agitation. Later, Hardik,
denied making any such statement and said that attempts were being made to misguide people.
Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) P C Thakur had called Hardik's statement provocative and insensible and a misuse of free speech.
Hardik has been in the limelight since the August 25 "mega-rally" of Patels and the subsequent violence across Gujarat.
