The Haryana Cabinet yesterday approved an amendment to the Haryana Village Common Land (Regulation) Act, 1961. In the meeting held in Chandigarh under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, approval was also given to provide a reimbursement amount to the commission agents to compensate for the loss of weight of crops due to moisture in the Rabi procurement season 2024-25. The Chief Minister said the Cabinet also approved the Haryana Wild Life (Protection) Rules, 2024. Under the new rules, criteria have been established for obtaining various types of permits related to the Wildlife Department.
He informed that the new rules provide detailed procedures and prescribed formats for granting permits related to wildlife education, scientific research, or
scientific management. Apart from this, detailed procedures and prescribed formats have also been made for people to conduct surveys or investigations on land within the boundaries of sanctuaries.
Talking about the amendment in the Haryana Village Common Land (Regulation) Act, 1961, CM said that after the amendment, up to 500 square yards of land occupied by unauthorizedly constructed houses of Gram Panchayat can be sold at less than the market price. This has cleared the way for the owners of such houses to get ownership rights. The Chief Minister said that a big relief has been given to the commission agents; the state government will bear a total amount of over three crore rupees to compensate for their loss.
