The Haryana government has sanctioned a fleet of 500 buses for the millennium city to strengthen the public transport system.
Gurugram MLA Umesh Agarwal said a new body Greater Gurugram Urban Transport Service Ltd (GGUTSL) has been constituted for this purpose. He said GGUTSL will be given the responsibility to operate these buses aiming to provide convenient, easy and effective mode of public transport facility to city residents and
commuters.
He said, financial and investment support will be provided by Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) with 51 per cent share, while rest of the cost will be provided by the Haryana government. Mr Agarwal said these the latest fleet will comprise of AC and non-AC buses and will operate on 21 routes in the city and will cover 578 km distance. He said, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will formally announce this initiative on November 1.
