Haryana Police has set up an election cell at Panchkula Police Headquarters to ensure free, fair and peaceful conduct of assembly elections in the state. Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapoor said that the election cell will monitor many election related important activities in the state.

Additional Director General of Police Law and Order, Sanjay Kumar has been made in-charge of the cell while Inspector General of Police Saurabh Singh has been appointed as the state police nodal officer for inspection. Inspector General of Police, Law and Order Hardeep Doon has been made the nodal officer for monitoring election expenditure and law and order related reports. 

Apart from this, the officers of the level Deputy Superintendent



of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police have been appointed as nodal officers in all the districts of the state who will send daily reports of their districts on various major points set by the cell.

Mr Kapoor said that through the election cell, compliance of the guidelines issued under the Model Code of Conduct will be ensured in the state. He said that the cell will also coordinate with the districts regarding the availability and deployment of police force and related issues. Along with this, a decision will be taken to identify critical booths in different assembly constituencies in the state and deploy additional police personnel there. This cell will operate 24 hours a day including holidays.
