HC declares Manipur economic blockade 'illegal'

Manipur High Court has declared as illegal the over four month long economic blockade in Manipur called by United Naga Council (UNC). The court also directed the authorities to deal with those supporting the blockade according to the law.

Justices N Kotiswar Singh and Justice Kh Nobin Singh passed the order on a public interest litigation. Normal movement of vehicles ferrying essential items along NH-2 and NH-37 remain affected since the economic blockade called by UNC since November 1 last year.
