Chennai: The Regional Met department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Chennai for the next 24 hours and heavy rainfall in the coastal districts of the State for the next two days. Speaking to the media, the Deputy Director-General of the Southern Region of the Met department,
Dr. Balachandran said that a low-pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal and move towards the North Tamilnadu Coast on the 9th. Owing to the present situation, he said that the MET department has been updating with the NOWCAST prediction every three
hours.
Tamilnadu Chief Minister MK.Stalin visited several areas in Chennai and took stock of the situation. The Government has asked the Schools in Chennai to be opened for providing shelter to the people living in low-lying areas.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday spoke to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and discussed the situation in the wake of heavy rainfall in parts of the state. Mr Modi assured all possible support from the Centre in rescue and relief work. He prayed for everyone’s well-being and safety.
