Mumbai: Under the influence of the cyclonic storm Gulab, which made a landfall between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh coasts, all 36 districts of Maharashtra are under heavy rain alert for today and tomorrow. Vidarbha, Marathwada and North Central Maharashtra are likely to get heavy to very heavy rainfall and strong gusty winds from today and tomorrow under the influence of the system.
Parts of Konkan region are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusty winds today and tomorrow. As per the forecast, Chandrapur is under red alert today, indicating extremely heavy rainfall over the district. Mumbai and neighbouring districts Thane, Palghar and
17 other districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall, accompanied by gusty winds, thunderstorms and lightning in the ghat area today.
Besides,11 districts- Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune, Satara, Nasik, Parbhani, Latur, Hingoli, Nanded, Yavatmal, Gadchiroli- are under orange alert indicating heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places and thunderstorms in ghat areas.
The IMD has forecast extremely heavy rain at isolated places on tomorrow in Palghar, Thane and Raigad and are under red alert. Mumbai along with Ratnagiri, Nashik, Pune, Ahmednagar are under orange alert on tomorrow, indicating heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places.
