Heavy rain continues to lash across Kerala. Red alert is issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts today. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Ernakulam districts are on orange alert for heavy rain and other districts are on yellow alert. Heavy rain is expected to continue in the state till 23rd of this month. Control rooms are opened. Shutters of major dams are being raised. Hilly regions of the State are in
high alert.
All islands of Lakshadweep are also witnessing heavy rain and strong winds. Fisherfolks are warned from venturing into the sea in the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.
Meanwhile, Met dept informed that monsoon has reached the Maldives, South Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. It is predicted to reach Kerala by May 31st.
