Heavy rain continues to lash many parts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat.
 
According to sources, about 21 villages close to the embankment of Narmada River in Jhagadia, Bharuch and Ankleshwar talukas in Bharuch district have been put on following heavy discharge of water from the Sardar Sarovar dam.
 
Four lakh cusecs of water are being released following very heavy rains in the river’s catchment areas.
 
A team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been put on stand-by in the district for rescue and relief



work following the flood issued by the district administration.
 
Narmada River is flowing above the danger mark in Bharuch city. Nearly 2500 people from the low lying areas of Narmada River have been evacuated to safer places.
 
Many talukas of Surat, Rajkot, Devbhumi Dwarka, Junagadh, Botad, Panchmahal, Banaskantha and Ahmedabad have also received more than 100 millimeter rainfall causing flood like situation.
 
Local weather office has predicted heavy rain for the next two days.
