Thiruvananthapuram: Widespread isolated heavy rains were reported in several hilly areas of Kerala since last evening. The hilly regions of Kozhikode, Wynad, Malappuram, Palakkad, Kottayam, districts received heavy rains. Though landslides took place at some places, no loss of life was reported.
The IMD has issued orange alert, indicating the possibility of very heavy rains
in Idukki, Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts today, where rains caused heavy damages recently. A yellow alert is in place in five districts.
Authorities have shifted people living in vulnerable areas to temporary camps. 304 relief camps have been set up at different places across the state, where 3851 families have been accommodated.
