Many parts of Himachal Pradesh received heavy rainfall yesterday. Heavy and incessant rain has wreaked havoc in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh yesterday. Heavy rain at Dharamshala triggered flash flood like situation causing severe damage to public properties. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has directed all the District Administrations to ensure immediate relief and rescue work in the affected areas.

Monsoon has become fully active in Himachal, after which heavy rains lashed many parts of the state yesterday. Incidents of landslides and blocking of National Highways have been reported in many parts of the state. Bhagsu, a tourist destination near Mcleodganj located at Dharamshala in Kangra district, has caused maximum damage to public property due to flash floods. 

Kangra Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal informed that damage caused in Dharamshala and its adjoining areas is being reviewed and teams have been constituted for relief and rehabilitation. In view



of the heavy rain warning, the District Administration has directed the tourists visiting Dharamshala to suspend their journey till 13th of this month so that they do not face any inconvenience. 

Dr. Nipun Jindal also advised tourists who have already arrived in Dharamshala and its surrounding area to stay where they are as roads have also been damaged due to heavy rain and landslides at several places, which may have hampered the movement. Deputy commissioner Nipun Jindal informed that all necessary safety arrangements are being made for tourists and locals who are staying at Dharamshala and its adjoining area. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the situation in Himachal Pradesh due to heavy rains is being closely monitored. In a tweet, Mr. Modi said that authorities are working with the State Government. He said that all possible support is being extended. He prayed for the safety of those in affected areas.
