Heavy rains lash several parts of Gujarat yesterday. Due to water logging at several places, normal life is severely affected in Anand, Surat, Bharuch and Narmada districts. Borsad in Anand district recorded the highest nearly 14 inches of rainfall till 6 pm yesterday. Several places in Narmada, Bharuch, Surat and Chhota Udepur districts recorded more than four inches of rainfall resulting in road water logging. The water level is rising
in the state’s dams and rivers.
Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey said flood situation occurred in ten rivers of the state. He said eight people died due to rains during the past 24 hours, thus the total number of casualties due to rains has gone up to 61 in the state. Mr Pandey said 14 teams of NDRF and 20 teams of SDRF have been deployed in the flood-affected region.
