Isolated heavy rain has been forecast today in south coastal districts of Tami Nadu including Ramanathapuram , Kannya Kumari and Thoothukudi. The met office has said that trough of low pressure in southwest Bay of Bengal adjoining Sri Lanka will bring in more rain.
With just two more days for the monsoon to end southern districts are getting copious rain because of trough of low pressure. North east monsoon which started in October is more than 50 per cent above normal till now in Tamil Nadu.
In Ramanathapuram and Thoothukudi isolated heavy rain hit many places.
In Rameswaram, Nagapattinam, Thoothukudi fishermen did not venture out for fishing because of turbulent sea and stormy winds with speed upto 55 KMPH. In Thoothukudi, 210 NDRF personnel are kept ready for emergency relief near flooding Thamaraparani river banks.
In Tirunelveli, Papanasam, Manimutharu Sevalaru dam levels are rising and excess water will be released again into Thamaraparani river.
