Ahmedabad: In Gujarat, heavy to very heavy rains lashed Ahmedabad city last evening. Many areas have been waterlogged and most of the underpass roads have been temporarily closed due to submerged conditions. The district administration has ordered the closure of schools of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation today in view of the incessant rainfall. Heavy and incessant rains also lashed most parts of south and central Gujarat since yesterday. More than 3 thousand people have been evacuated from low-lying areas.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a high-level meeting at the state emergency operation centre last evening
to review the situation caused by the heavy to very heavy rains. Chhota Udepur, Dang, Narmada, Valsad, Navsari, and Panchmahal districts have recorded very heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours. District administrations have been asked to evacuate the people from low-lying areas and kachcha houses.
At present, 13 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 16 teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed in the different parts of the state. The local weather office has predicted heavy rainfall for the next two days in many parts of the state.
