Shimla: The tribal and upper areas of Himachal Pradesh have been experiencing heavy snowfall for the last two days, which has affected normal life. The tribal Lahaul-Spiti district has received snowfall ranging from 2 to 5 feet. The state capital Shimla has received about half a foot of snowfall at various places.
Due to heavy snowfall, more than five hundred roads in the state have been closed for vehicular traffic, on the other hand more than one thousand seven hundred electric transformers have also
come to a standstill.
Shimla district is the most affected by snowfall and more than 200 roads are closed in the district while more than 700 power transformers have been stalled.
The work of clearing snow from the roads is being carried out by the administration on a war footing.
The state Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain and snowfall in many parts of the state.
