Hijab row: Police use lathi-charge against protesting muslim women in Ghaziabad

Amidst the hijab controversy in Karnataka, a three-day-old video of police using batons to disperse a group of women protesters wearing hijab went viral on social media.

The video is said to be of the Khoda police station area in Ghaziabad.

According to the police, the women attacked the officers, which led to a scuffle. The matter was pacified later, police said.

CO Abhay Kumar said that the incident took place on Sunday. "When a police team was on patrol, they saw 10-15 women protesting. The group dispersed only after we decided to impose Section 144. The matter is being



looked into by the authorities concerned," the CO said.

An FIR was registered in the case. Nobody has been arrested so far. The investigation is on, said police.

On Sunday, women protested over the hijab row in Navneet Vihar, Khoda. They raised slogans demanding justice.

According to the police, the women did not have any prior permission for the protest. Because of this, the local police had to remove the protesters. There was also a scuffle between the crowd and the police team. The forces of nearby police stations also reached the spot. Later, the police pacified the matter.
