The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, yesterday called for the complete eradication of terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir and ensuring zero infiltration from across the border. Mr Shah was addressing a high-level meeting of the Unified Headquarters at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar. The home minister yesterday chaired two high-level meetings at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar to review the overall security situation and the status and progress of ongoing developmental projects in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meetings aimed to provide a first-hand account of the ground security situation and the progress of key infrastructure and welfare initiatives under the central government’s development agenda for Jammu & Kashmir.
Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, GoC Northern Command, and other senior-most security, intelligence, and administrative officials attended the Unified Headquarters meeting.
The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, along with Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha,
attended the review meeting related to ongoing developmental projects and key infrastructure initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir. The Union Home Minister was on a three-day visit to J&K.
Mr Amit Shah reviewed the security scenario, law and order situation and other security-related aspects in J&K at the unified headquarters meeting. The security agencies apprised the Home Minister about the operational preparedness while presenting their unified strategy for handling the security situation within the Union Territory and along its borders. Mr Shah also reviewed the preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, commencing on the 3rd of July this year.
In a separate meeting, Mr Shah directed the J&K Administration to focus on accelerating infrastructure growth, boosting tourism, improving connectivity, and enhancing welfare schemes across both regions of Jammu and Kashmir. The home minister reiterated the Centre’s commitment to ensuring speedy and inclusive development in the Union Territory.
